From Open Water Swimmer to Competitive Triathlete

The skills that get you through a casual sea swim are not the same ones that will get you onto the bike faster. We bridge that gap, turning your endurance into a strategic weapon.

Our Philosophy: Coaching for the Fourth Discipline—Transitions

As competitive swimmers who became seasoned triathletes, we know the truth: a triathlon isn't just swim, bike, run. The "fourth discipline" is the transition, and it starts long before you leave the water. Your swim sets the tone for your entire race. A panicked, inefficient swim can ruin your bike leg, while a calm, strategic swim can give you a massive advantage.

Our coaching philosophy is built around this reality. We don't just teach you how to swim from point A to point B. We teach you how to navigate a crowded start, how to conserve energy by drafting effectively, how to sight with minimal disruption to your stroke, and how to approach the final 100 meters to set yourself up for a fast, smooth transition to the bike. This isn't just open water training; this is specific, performance-focused coaching designed to make you a better, smarter, and faster triathlete.

The Triathlon Swim: Skill Breakdown

The Race Start

Mastering every start type is crucial. We train you for the specific techniques of beach starts, deep-water starts, and the increasingly common rolling starts to get you ahead of the pack.

Sighting and Navigation for open Water Swim - Open Water Swim Lessons Singapore

Sighting & Navigation

We teach you how to sight efficiently with minimal disruption. Learn to lift your eyes just enough to spot the buoy and navigate the straightest, fastest line possible.

Drafting & Pack Swimming

Learn the art of swimming on someone's feet or hip to save up to 30% of your energy. We teach you how to find the right pack and stay in the sweet spot.

Buoy Turns

Don't lose time at the turns. We teach you the techniques for making sharp, aggressive, and efficient turns around the buoys, maintaining your momentum and position.

Handling Conditions

From choppy water to strong currents, we give you the skills to adapt your stroke and breathing so you can remain calm and powerful, no matter what the ocean throws at you.

The Swim Exit & T1 Prep

The race doesn't end at the shore. We teach you how to sight the swim exit, effectively stand up and run through the water, and begin the process of preparing for T1 (Transition 1) while you're still swimming.

Our Training Philosophy: Train with Purpose, Race with Joy

You might see our lifestyle vibe and wonder if we're serious enough to coach you for a triathlon. Let's be very clear: we love to smile, but we are absolutely committed to pushing you to your limits to get you to that finish line, faster.

Our unique philosophy, born from years of racing, is to help you look beyond the pain of a hard set. It's to remind you of the feeling of happiness and pure accomplishment after you conquer the open water. We train with purpose, but we race with joy.

We also believe in perspective. Swimming is just the first discipline of three, and triathlon is just one amazing part of a full life. We're here to make you a faster, smarter swimmer, but also a more balanced and resilient athlete. Have fun, enjoy the grind, and explore your potential with us.

Your Triathlon Swim Questions

What's the Difference Between This and Your 'Open Water Swim' Program?

Our Open Water Swimming Program teaches you how to be safe and confident in the sea. Our Triathlon program teaches you how to race in it. Here, the focus is purely on performance: mastering mass starts, drafting efficiently, making aggressive buoy turns, and pacing yourself to set up a great bike and run. It's about strategy, not just survival.

Do I Need to Be a Fast Swimmer to Join This Program?

Not at all. This program is about becoming a smarter and more efficient swimmer, not necessarily the fastest. We've coached triathletes of all levels. Our goal is to give you the technique and strategy to exit the water with the most energy conserved, which is often more important than being the first one out.

How Much Time Can I Realistically Expect to Save on My Triathlon?

While every athlete is different, the swim sets the tone for your entire race. A calm, efficient swim can save you minutes not only in the water, but also on the bike and run because you start with a lower heart rate and less fatigue. Many of our athletes find they save significant time overall by exiting the water feeling fresh, not exhausted.

What Kind of Training Workouts Can I Expect?

Expect purposeful, race-specific training. We move beyond standard laps to focus on drills that simulate race-day conditions. This includes sets designed to practice technique under fatigue, race-start simulations with a group, and specific drills for sighting and turning under pressure.

Where do your triathlon swim sessions take place in Singapore?

While both Sentosa and East Coast Park are common locations for open water swimming in Singapore, our primary and highly recommended training ground is Sentosa.

We choose Sentosa for a very important reason: safety. The beaches at Sentosa are contained, U-shaped coves, often with safety nets, which protect swimmers from strong currents and boat traffic. This creates a calmer, more predictable environment, which is perfect for focusing on technique and building confidence.

While East Coast Park offers a true open water experience, its conditions can be much more challenging. We reserve training there for our most advanced athletes and specific race simulations, and always with strict safety protocols in place.

What's Your Cancellation Policy for Triathlon Open Water Swim Lessons?

For our triathlon open water sessions, our cancellation policy is dictated by one, non-negotiable principle: your safety.

We understand that both you and our coaches are highly committed to the lesson. However, the open water environment is unpredictable. Our coaches will make a final decision based on the weather conditions on the day of the lesson.

A lesson will be cancelled and rescheduled at no cost if there is heavy rain, a lightning alert, or if our expert coaches judge the sea conditions to be unsafe or risky. We will always err on the side of caution. If the weather looks 50/50, we will cancel.

For non-weather-related cancellations initiated by you, our standard policy of requiring 24 hours' notice still applies.

Ready to Find Your Edge?

Stop letting your swim be a weakness. It's time to turn it into your weapon. Our expert coaching is the competitive advantage you've been looking for.
